As
a
student
born
under
the
sign
of
Cancer,
I
have
always
been
known
for
my
tenacity
and
hard
work.
These
qualities
came
in
handy
during
my
high
school
years,
especially
when
it
came
to
preparing
for
the
most
crucial
exam
of
my
life-
the
college
entrance
examination
or
the
gaokao.
While
I
was
excellent
in
other
subjects,
I
knew
that
I
particularly
had
to
focus
on
English,
as
it
held
a
lot
of
weightage
in
the
gaokao
score.
Therefore,
I
spent
a
considerable
amount
of
time
enhancing
my
English
skills
by
reading
books,
newspapers,
and
even
watching
movies
with
English
subtitles.
I
also
attended
supplementary
classes
and
practiced
writing
essays
every
day
to
improve
my
writing
skills.
Finally,
the
day
of
the
gaokao
arrived,
and
I
felt
confident
about
my
preparation
for
the
English
section.
The
exam
began,
and
as
I
finished

questions,
I
felt
a
sense
of
ease
and
composure
fill
me.
I
knew
that
I
had
done
my
best
and
given
it
my
all.
When
the
results
came
out,
I
was
ecstatic
to
learn
that
I
had
achieved
the
highest
score
in
English
amongst
all
the
Cancerians
who
had
taken
the
exam.
It
was
a
moment
of
immense
joy
and
pride
for
me,
and
it
made
me
realise
that
my
hard
work
had
indeed
paid
off.
Looking
back,
I
realise
that
the
key
to
my
success
in
the
gaokao
was
not
just
my
hard
work
but
also
my
passion
for
the
English
language.
From
academic
vocabulary
to
literary
works,
I
have
always
had
a
profound
interest
in
the
language,
which
has
motivated
me
to
push
my
boundaries
and
explore
beyond
my
comfort
zone.
My
success
in
the
gaokao
has
only
strengthened
my
love
for
the
English
language,
and
I
continue
to
learn
and
explore
its
many
intricacies
even
today.
As
a
Cancerian,
I
believe
that
my
persistence
and
dedication
to
excellence
will
continue
to
drive
me
towards
greater
success
in
the
future.
